Does anyone know what year ISRC numbers came into existence? I can't seem to locate this information anywhere. I am using public domain music as background music for videos I am making, but YouTube is steadfastly requiring ISRC numbers. I really don't think this applies to me, but the form won't let me move on. My only other choice seems to be to lie and just say I'm not using music, but then it will probably come back to haunt me later. Any help out there? Thanks.

https://usisrc.org/about/about_the_agency.html curiously, no history of the place. Nothing on the wikipedia entry either. However, on the wiki for International Standard Musical Work Code it states that "The first ISWC was assigned in 1995."
